In theory and practice
Grasping Music Applied theory
Understanding music means grasping it – with the mind, with the ears and with the hands. We always work on melody, rhythm and harmony in theory and practice at the same time: whatever we name, we also sing, clap and play.
In workshops on afternoons, Saturday mornings and weekends, mixed groups learn together. Ear training, four-hand playing and rhythmic training go hand in hand – without any lecturing.
Melody · Rhythm · Harmony
Melody – hearing, singing, writing down and playing: intervals, scales, phrases.
Rhythm – feeling it in the body, speaking, clapping and reading: pulse, metre, note values.
Harmony – hearing and playing chords, accompanying cadences, finding your own accompaniments.
Music Theory Online E-learning
Between the workshops, learning continues online: with an e-learning course in music theory and exercises on melody, rhythm and harmony – step by step, for practising at home.
Swen FischerTruly grasping music requires a comprehensive musical education.
