About Me

Swen Fischer

Biography

Swen Fischer studied piano at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Valerie Weihs Marek, Alfons Kontarsky and Christoph Lieske. Since 2016 he has continued his pianistic training as a student of Prof. Marisa Somma in Bari.

In 1996 he co-founded the private academy pianoforte in Salzburg/Thalgau. In 2002 he founded playy in Munich and the playy publishing house, through which he develops lessons and teaching materials for pre-school children. For many years, playy was an exam centre in Munich in cooperation with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM, London).

Swen Fischer serves as a juror at national and international competitions, such as Jugend musiziert, the Carl Adler Competition in Stuttgart and the Clara Schumann Competition in Karlsruhe.

As a web developer he devotes himself to multimedia projects related to music. During the coronavirus crisis in 2020, for example, he founded the international online competition EUPLAYY together with Fedele Antonicelli and Fernando Viani, which he oversees as technical director and general director. Since 2025 he has been managing director of EUPLAYY gGmbH.

After ten years of lessons with Swen Fischer, I still look forward to my weekly lesson. The way he works on each piece together with me is wonderful – with great empathy and high standards at the same time.

When my son David, at 16 months, was allowed to press the piano keys for the first time on Mr Fischer’s lap, he stayed calmer than ever before. Today he is on the home straight towards studying music.
